Heroine T-Shirts

Heroine \her-ə-wən\: a woman admired and emulated for her achievements and qualities

ThinkGeek has just added some really cool T-Shirt in honor of real Heroines taken straight from our history books.

Marie Curie - Pioneer of Nuclear Physics

It was Marie Curie's curiosity that set her and husband Pierre on the path to discover two new elements: how was it that an ore could be more radioactive than the Uranium and Thorium it contained? Could the ore house another, more radioactive element?

Ada Lovelace - The First Computer Programmer

We are fortunate that Lord Byron's marriage to Annabella Milbanke ended so poorly. Had she not had such disdain for him, she might not have insisted that their daughter Ada focus on music and, most of all, arithmetic, to the explicit exclusion of poetry.

These two awesome Ladies (Geeks) are just a tip of the iceberg when you look back at all of the great Women of science. I plan on writing a series of articles featuring these Women of Science. The main reason for my fascination with these female geeks of the past is because I plan on reading about them to my daughter which is only two and half year old, but I do believe that if she grows up with these type of heroines to look up to it will help build her confidence and desire to do great thing no matter what.

After I'm done looking at the past I will start looking at the current leading ladies in science and technology.
